And so it begins….

Start a blog, they said.

It’ll be fun, they said.

Dear fun, you can start any moment.  Go ahead, don’t be shy.  Let’s get this party started.

In 3,2,1……

Just hold the glitter, that stuff gets everywhere.

I’m stalling.  I’m staring. I’m downing coffee like it’s my only hope for survival.

And I’m terrified.

God, are you there? It’s me, Summer, and suddenly words have escaped me.  Is this a cruel joke? Am I being punked?  I have NEVER been speechless.

Some girls are born with beauty, others kindness, intelligence, gentleness, grace.  Not me.  Oh no, no, no, my dear friends. I was born with the gift of gab.

It all started in Kindergarten.  It was mid-morning, circle time.  We were putting on Burger King crowns, for what purpose, I cannot recall, but I do remember well the beginning of the end.

The end of silence, if you will.

I had turned to the kid on my left, and as I began to help them assemble their crown, I broke the circle time code of silence.  You know the one of which I speak.

Suddenly there it was.

S-U-M-M-E-R.

Large white letters, stark against the green surface of the chalkboard. My name was erased later that day, but my shame is forever etched into my very being.  I, Summer Dulinsky, am a talker.  A motormouth. A yapper.  A veritable chatterbox.

Chatty, chat, chat, chat.

And would you look at that?!  I found my words again.  So, let’s get this blog started.

Again.

Hello there!  My name is Summer. My God calls me daughter, my husband calls me babe, my children call me Mom, and my mom calls me to make sure I’m not dead, because I’m the absolute worse at communication (yes, I see the irony there too).  And my friends.  My friends know not to call me.  So they text.  Smart friends, good friends.  You get a cookie.  And a blog to read.

What kind of blog, you ask?

Great question.

I have no idea.

Just kidding, folks.  Sorta.

My pictures aren’t perfectly pixelated, and I’m not an expert of anything.  If I’m being brutally honest I don’t feel I have a lot to offer. But even the little things can make a big difference.  And that, dear readers, is the Mustard Seed.  Taking the ordinary and celebrating it. So thank you for allowing me to share my life with you.

Until then friends- live a big life, love a lot, and laugh.  Dry, rinse, repeat.

As for me, I’m going to go take a nap- this blogging stuff is EXHAUSTING.
